AASync: Easy-to-use Local - FTP - SFTP Folder Synchronization and File Backup Tool for Windows and Macos X

Download AASync for Macintosh
Download AASync 2.2.1 for Windows
AASync is a File Backup, Folder Syncronization utility. It is simple to use, and it allows local as well as remote backups over an FTP or SFTP connection. Makes it very easy to back up your files to a remote server or another local disk or maintain your website! The sync engine will detect the changes, and copy only the changed files for efficiency. Here are the main features:
Synchronizations locally, or to or from a remote host over FTP/FTP-SSL or SFTP.
Any number of simultaneous sync operations
Powerful logging facilities. Logs can be generated according to user defined parameters. Just select your sync def, click the log button in the tool bar to see the last log generated for that sync.
Unattended scheduled sync with lot of features: AASync installs as a GUI app and also Windows service, so your syncs will execute even if you are not even logged in. Even more powerful, the machine can be set or wake or power on before a scheduled sync and go to standby/hibernate after! AAsync is capable to run completely unattended.
Sync Logs can be e-mailed to the administrator.
AASync will copy open files using the Shadow Copy Service (VSS)
AAsync will prevent idle sleep if a sync goes on, making sure ongoig sycnchronizations are not interrupted.
AAsync is capable to exclude files by name, extension or full path.
Easy browsing of remote systems to pick source or target folder
Filename changes are detected, and thereby the cost of unnecessary file transfers are avoided.
Support for different character encodings like SHIFT-JIS and others, so your filenames can contain those pesky "international" characters.
Support for Firewalls (SOCKS v5, and Firewall toolkits)
Why AASync? Well here it is: Most File backup utilities can only deal with source and target folders that are mounted on the local system, like an external disk. Well, that is better than nothing, for sure, but it will not offer a lot of data protection. What does? An offsite backup meaning a daily synchronization of certain folders on your desktop to a remote host! Remote meaning a host in a different location, with which we communicate using some protocol like SFTP-SSH or FTP. AAsync will do the local sync like everybody else, but it also does Local-to-Remote and Remote-to_local sync. Remote-to-local sync is a very rare feature, very few apps can do it, and none like AASync. AASync does NOT require any custom software to run on the remote host, all that is required is that you have a regular FTP or SFTP account, and that is it! Main Uses:
Offsite File Backup
- Back up your files to an offsite host with no effort whatsoever! AASync's advanced options even allow you to set up regular times for automatic backups. No need to be up and watch the backup with burning eyes in the middle of the night.. AASync's advanced power management capabilities will let you set it to automatically wake your machine in the middle of the night, performs a whole chain of sync operations, then fall back to sleep. If you care, you can easily check the results in a saved log file any time.. or not. It is unattended operation at its best!
Website maintenance - (local to remote sync to a UNIX webhost)
Monitoring changes on a remote site - (remote to local sync)
