Licensing Modes

AASync for Windows can run in three different licensing modes:

Free Mode: In this mode you can use Local-to_Local sync. It means that you can backup to another folder, external disk, or anything that is mounted on your box, including SMB or Webdav mounts. When AASync starts up and you see the Welcome Panel, just click "Use Free Mode" and you can start using the program. No nags or any other bothersome pop-ups or waiting, just start using the program and enjoy!
Licensed Mode: Once a permanent license is installed, AASync will be in the Licensed Mode, with all features enabled permanently. Remote syncing over FTP/SSL and SFTP are available.
AASync licenses cost USD 29 / user.
Evaluation Mode: Same as License Mode, all features are enabled, but for only a limited evaluation period of 20 days. That should give users ample opportunity to test out the software to make sure it does what the user expects. The evaluation license is free.

How to License AASync for Windows

When you start AASync for the first time, AASync will be in the Free Mode and you will get a Welcome panel with the following options:

Run in Free Mode: It simply dismisses the panel, and you are free to use the program in Local-Only Sync mode.
Purchase AASync: This button will bring up the Kagi Store that is built into AASync. You can purchase and install a license without leaving AASync. The Kagi Store Wizard will lead you through a sequence of screens to complete the purchase. If successful, AASync will automatically install the new license. You will get an invoice in email or snail-mail (your choice), of course, but there is no waiting, you can use your AASync right away without any delay, the license is installed already for you.
Alternatively, you can go straight to the Kagi Webstore for AASync. Once you completed the purchase the license string that looks something like "SWAAxxxxxxxxxxx" will be emailed to you. Once the license purchase is complete one way or the other, and you posess the valid license string, the license must be activated. There are several pieces of information you must provide for the license activation process: A Password - this password is used to activate your license. If you move later onto another computer, you can easily move your AASync license by Re-Activating it on your new computer (see the next paragraph). During the re-activation process you will need to enter the same password, so it is very important to keep it in a safe dry cool place and not lose it. During the first Activation process, we will ask for an email adress too. It is not mandatory but higly recommended, because this email can be used to mail the above mentioned password, should you lose it after all. The password can only be mailed to the registered email.
Activate Existing License: If you did not use the store wizard and simply got a license over email, or have just moved to another computer and want to install you license string, then use this button to activate your license. If this is an activation for the first time, you will be asked for a password and an email to store for later re-activations. If the license was already used once, you will have to enter the password that was used during the first activation. If you have lost it, you can have it resent to the registered email (see above). Of course, this activation process is done only once as you enter a license for the first time.
Activate Existing License: If you did not use the store wizard and simply got a license over email, or have just moved to another computer and want to install you license string, then use this button to activate your license. If this is an activation for the first time, you will be asked for a password and an email to store for later re-activations. Evaluate AASync: A single click, wait several seconds, and your evaluation license will be installed for you automatically, and you can start using the program right away. After every startup you will get a quick reminder when your evaluation license will expire. Please note that you are allowed only one evaluation period.

This panel with the licensing options can be called up at any time, by clicking the Help/Manage/Activate Licenses menu.

Upgrading from Evaluation mode to Licensed mode is very simple and automatic if you complete a purchase or a permanent license activation.

Important: You must keep your license data confidential! If the license system detects too many activation attempts from different places, the license will be blacklisted, and further activations will not be possible. Internet access is required for license purchase/activation.

License Errors: It is highly unlikely that you would have a problem with obtaining or activating your license, but if you do, please forward us any mail you have got from Kagi, and tell us what problem you are experiencing. Internet access is required for the activation process!
